Volunteers from Slovakia, the USA and the Czech Republic collected information about residents of Blazov and Tichy Potok and their descendants on the WikiTree.com genealogy platform. Currently, the database contains data on more than eight thousand persons and more than two and a half thousand families. You can also search in the local database, which only contains data on residents of the people from Blazov and Tichy Potok.
WikiTree.com is a worldwide genealogy platform created and maintained by a team of volunteer enthusiasts. The platform is freely accessible to everyone for searching, and after free registration, everyone can create and manage their family tree with an unlimited number of people. At the beginning of the work on the family trees of the village of Blazov, a problem arose with diacritics because genealogy applications, including WikiTree, did not allow searching for words with diacritics, at the same time, diacritic was not often used for computers used outside of Slovakia. For this reason, the Hungarian form of surnames was used in most cases. Church records in Blazov were written in this language for the longest time. In addition to the Hungarian language, the data in the church registry were written in the Old Slavic language, Latin, Cyrillic, and Slovak.
The basis of the database of residents of Blazov was created about twenty years ago, and later inhabitants of Tichy Potok were added too. Since then, the lists have been continuously supplemented and corrected. In addition to the permanent team, many other descendants of natives from these villages participate in the completion. Often one little information can help to complete or resolve various relationships of families. Therefore, everyone who wants to contribute to this work is welcome. We believe our work can help everyone interested in their roots in the villages of Blazov and Tichy Potok.
